Save Money, Take Care of Your Projector Lamps! |
Digital and multimedia projectors are expensive. This is why proper care for your projector lamps is needed so you will be spared the needless expense for repairs and replacements for your projector lamps.
To help you out, here are some tips to help you take care of your projector lamps.
1. Since projector lamps involve the use of a lot of light, then it follows that there will be a lot of heat involved. So it is best to use you projector lamps in a setting where the high temperature of the bulb and the projector can be offset by, let say, air conditioning. Also, be sure that there is enough space for the fans and air to circulate, so that the proper temperature can be maintained. It is recommended that you read your manual carefully as projector lamps have different specs based on the model size, and other factors. In extreme cases, there may even be fire if your projector lamps overheat, so best be careful.
2. Let your fan run after switching off your projector lamps. This can be done my NOT unplugging your projector lamps at once after you've switched of the unit, as doing this can let your fan run, helping in cooling the lamp faster, and preventing lamp failure in the future.
3. Turning your projector lamps on and off frequently will also make your unit deteriorate faster. Frequent on and off will damage your projector lamps' filament, because of the frequent surge of power into the unit from constant on and off actions.
4. It is also important that you avoid moving the unit while the lamp is still not completely cooled. Lamps that are still hot are more fragile, and a wrong move can have disastrous effects, such as your bulb breaking due to the stress of vibrations and movement.
5. Clean your filters regularly. Dust and dirt that accumulates inside the lamp not only damages the image quality when you project, but also may damage the delicate circuitry inside the unit. Collected dust can also contribute to faster heating of the bulb and the unit, which, as already stated, causes stress on the unit and makes the components' lives shorter. Air filters should be especially taken care of, and must be cleaned frequently if you are using the unit in open spaces where it is more prone to dust and dirt.
6. You also don't always need to use the lamp at full brightness, as full brightness setting is only used for outdoor presentations, or for settings where there is competing light. Try to use the power saver or econo mode in your unit if possible, like when presenting in a room where the lights are dimmed, or in dark indoor settings where there is not much competing light.
With these tips, we hope that you will be able to maximize the use of your projector lamps, and make them last longer. Especially in times where we all need to keep a tighter hold on our money, we need to take care of projector lamps to ensure better life and use and avoid unnecessary expenses.
