When to buy Projector lamps

When should you buy a projector lamp's replacement bulb? Well, you will want to know a bit about the life of projector lamps and how long they may last. Plus keep in mind that you will need to avoid using the projector lamps after you have gone past the time of use that is stated on the package. If the projector lamp explodes in your projector, you may find that the cost of repairs will far outweigh those of a new lamp. Some other projector manufacturers make your projector run a warning that will state your projector lamp needs to be changed; this warning will last about two minutes and then your projector should start. But once you start getting this warning, don't put off the purchase of new projector lamps.

You will find that some reports you look at will state if you use full or low power mode on your projector it will affect the time that the projector lamps will run. Most of the newer projectors will be able to tell if you're using low or full mode and will correct for the mode type and the time the projector lamp will be good for.

In owning a projector and purchasing projector lamps you will find that even though the bulb may be rated as lasting 2000 hours it won't necessarily last this long. In fact you will find that the majority of the projector lamps won't even make it to that 2000 hour mark. There is a 50%chance that your projector lamps will make it to 2000 hours. So if you keep a log of how long you've used your projector when you start getting close, just go and purchase a projector lamp so you are prepared.

Use the following hints to your advantage to get more hours out of your projector lamps.

When you get done using the projector, make sure you don't unplug it right away. There should be a label that will light up on your projector when it is ok to unplug. If you don't wait the projector lamps don't have enough time to cool off.

Some of you might have a projector that will require no cool down; however, it would be best to wait that minute just to help the projector lamp last longer.

After 100 hours of use you should take the filters out and clean and change them. You will find in the owner manual that is what they recommend; however most people will wait a bit longer to clean the filters, and this can cause problems with the air getting through and the projector lamps lasting.

When you go to place your projector don't put it too close to a wall or some other object that will block the air flow. It's recommended that you place the projector at least 6” from the wall.
