Projector Lamp Purchases |
Looking for a projector lamp to replace your old one? You will find that at times these items may not be the easiest to find, the reason being that manufacturers don't produce many projector lamps. With a projector lamp having an average life of 2000 hours, it seems like they won't need to make that many.
The average home projector isn't used for that many hours probably in 2 or 3 years. So a projector lamp isn't really needed too often. But you will find when you go to get a projector lamp that it is expensive. It can run you between 100 to 300 pounds, which isn't cheap, but then again if you only need to get one every 3 years it averages out to a pretty good deal. The big thing about a projector lamp is that the manufacturers only pay around 70 pounds to make them, so the profit is pretty good for them. Also, when you go to get a projector lamp you will find that you can not get one from anyone but the specific manufacturers. This also keeps the cost up; if there were third party manufacturers that could produce these projector lamps you would see the cost go down.
You do have some ways to make a projector lamp last longer. The first will be the placement of the projector in accordance with the wall. Most manufacturers suggest that you leave 6 inches between the projector and a wall. When you do give the right placement you will find that your projector lamp should possibly last longer. The air flow will help the fan not work too hard as well, which will also help that projector to continue to work well.
If you also run the projector in low mode, you will find that it can add to the life of the projector lamp too. In fact, it may add up to 20%. That's a nice bit of extra projector lamp time, and more time to save up some money to buy one.
Another thing that can help out is proper projector service. If you look in your owner's manual, you will usually find that they suggest you clean and replace filters every 100 hours of use. This means that you need to keep track of the time you use the projector. If you don't do this maintenance you will see that it can cause a lot more problems than just a shortened life of your projector lamp. But it will also hurt your projector possibly. With the filters not being cleaned and replaced on time it may cause your projector to over heat. Over heating may cause the LCD panel to go bad, and that is around 700 pounds to replace.
Projector Lamps are expensive, but that LCD panel is a lot more expensive. So try these hints to keep your projector lamp running longer. Even if it adds an extra few hundred hours, that again is more time that you have to save up for your projector lamp.
