Buying a Projector Lamp |
To buy a projector lamp, you will find it can be pretty expensive. These projector lamps will run anywhere from 100 pounds all the way up to 300 pounds. That's a pretty nice size of money you will need to spend. If you're a family, that projector lamp purchase may be a bit of money. However, a projector lamp will last around 2000 hours, and this is a pretty long time too. So if you really think about it, that projector lamp isn't that bad of a price. Of course, if you're a business you will use up those hours a heck of a lot faster. But as a business, you are not going to notice the money coming out either.
You will find that this 2000 hours is an average and not a guarantee. It may actually last longer or less time. Some projector lamp manufacturers give you a warranty too; most of them will usually run you around 500 hours of use and 90 days. That's a pretty good warranty just in case that projector lamp doesn't last very long. However, you may find that there are ways that you can possibly help the projector lamp to last longer.
First, you are going to have to place the projector the recommended length away from the wall. If you look in the owner's manual, you will find that the length is usually 6 inches. If you do this it will allow the fan in the projector to work properly, which will also help the projector lamp to cool down. Thus it will hopefully make the projector lamp last longer, adding some life to it.
Also, you should make sure that you clean the filters or replace them like is recommended, too. Looking in the owner's manual, you will find that the suggestion to cleaning these filters is normally every 100 hours of use. So you should keep a log of how often you use the projector to make sure that you clean it at the right time. A projector lamp can get an extra 20% usage from it with just doing this.
Plus, you should watch for the warning signs that your projector lamp may be getting close to going. If your picture is becoming a bit darker, the projector lamp may be close to going. Most of the newer projectors will have a warning system built into them, one way being that the projector won't even work after the time that the projector lamp is past the rated time of use. Another will be that a two minute warning may run before the projector will start. This is to warn you that the projector lamp is about ready to go past the allotted time, and that you should get a new one.
Projector lamps may not be the least expensive thing you can purchase for your projector, but it is something that will need to be done once in a while. To get a projector lamp just go to the store or online, and order your replacement. You will find that only the manufacturers make those replacement projector lamps. This is one reason why the price continues to stay up. If third party manufacturers were allowed to make replacement lamps, the prices would surely go down.
Don't worry when you go to get a projector lamp. It should be a while before you will need to get your first projector lamp.
