Do you need a Projector Ceiling Mount? |
When you get a projector, one of the accessories you may think about buying is the projector ceiling mount. The reason being is that it will allow you to keep the projector in a good spot and not have to worry about the fan working too hard, and possibly over heating. Over heating of the fan can run into some costly repairs, possibly even the LCD panel becoming fried. But with a projector ceiling mount, you will have the projector placed far enough away from the wall. This is what the manufacturer recommends you do.
A projector ceiling mount has some disadvantages and advantages that you need to think about before your final decision is made on whether you need to get a projector ceiling mount. First we will look at the advantages. You will have no visible wires around the room; this will keep the area clear and not have someone tripping over the wires as they walk by. So this will be seen as a great safety measure too. Another great advantage for a projector ceiling mount is that you will find it makes the setup look more professional. Which means when people come into your house they will see a professional set up that looks wonderful. Plus if you have a projector ceiling mount up you will find that people can't mess around with the projector and mess it up. Most of the times this will be seen mostly in that a child you have will not be able to mess up the settings of your projector. Also you will find that it is very difficult for you to walk into the light path of the projector, which when it's placed on something other than a projector ceiling mount is easily done.
Now what are the disadvantages of having a projector ceiling mount? You will have to drill and cut your ceilings and walls, which will cause a mess, but if you do this carefully you won't make a huge mess. One of the most difficult steps will be when you will need to drop the cables into the walls. Making sure that this is done right may cause problems. Anytime you work with electricity it's always a problem unless you know what you are doing. When measuring the projector placing and where the screen needs to be you will need to do this a lot of times to make sure that the placement of the projector ceiling mount is right. You should not do this unless you have knowledge of how to install cable and the proper way to get your screen placement. At times you will mess up the placement, and if you are not sure how to correct it you will end up making more holes than you should.
So you can see there are distinct advantages and disadvantages to a projector ceiling mount. If you're not sure what you are doing, it is best to hire someone to do the installation. This way it will be done the right way, and you won't have to clean up the mess either. That's two great advantages to hiring a person to install your projector ceiling mount.
