Getting Projector Bulbs |
If you currently have a projector, sooner or later you will need to replace projector bulbs. When you go to buy these projector bulbs, you will find out soon enough that the prices are pretty expensive. However, you will find that there are ways that you can do things to make a projector bulb last longer.
When you went out to buy a projector, you most likely spent quite a bit of money to get a good projector that would give your family fun times. You will find that projector bulbs will normally last an average of 2000 hours. However, you need to keep in mind that this is strictly an average and is not guaranteed. This also doesn't mean that the projector will run for 2000 hours and then just stop working either. You will find that projector bulbs can last for a smaller amount of time such as 500 hours and perhaps can last a longer time too up to 3000 hours. Just keep in mind when you get projector bulbs and they are rated 2000 hours of use that you're not necessarily going to be using it for that long.
However, you will find that there are indeed ways that you can get projector bulbs to last longer. When you go to place your projector on the original setup, you need to make sure that you place it correctly. When you look in most owner manuals you will find that it recommended being around 6” away from a wall. If you place your projector the right way, projector bulbs may get more hours of use.
Another thing that needs to be done on your projector is the cleaning up of filters, or replacing them. You will find keeping the filters clean will have projector bulbs lasting longer. If you look into your owner's manual you will see that this type of cleaning should be done around every 100 hours. Keep a log of time that you have used your projector to make sure you help your projector bulbs last longer.
You'll find that another great idea to get more than 2000 hours from projector bulbs is running your projector on low or eco-mode. It's not really proven, but most manufacturers will claim if you run the projector on low mode that you will indeed improve the lifetime of projector bulbs. There is a newer projector out that is claiming the projector bulbs will last 3000 hours. That's a big claim, one that might be good to check into.
Keep in mind that this 2000 hours is not a given but strictly an average amount of time that the projector bulbs may last. You may get one that will last only 1500 hours or may run as long as 3000 hours. You will find that now most manufacturers are coming out with warranties on projector bulbs, normally that will be for 500 hours or 90 days. So if a projector bulb happens to not last that long you will get a free replacement projector bulb.
Following these steps is not a guarantee to more time out of projector bulbs, but it may well help. It's best to at least try them. That way you won't need to be putting out those 100 to 300 pounds for projector bulbs to replace your old one.
