How to take care of a projector lamp

We all know that a projector is a big investment and therefore requires proper care. Yet how many of us recognize that a projector lamp is also quite expensive. A new projector lamp costs somewhere around $400, and the bulbs are costly too. There are certain aspects of projector lamps that if we are able to understand and take care of, its life is bound to increase. Let us have a look at some of those aspects:

The projection lamp emits great amount of heat and the device needs to bear those high temperatures and continue to work efficiently and that too without being damaged. The cost of the lamp is quite high and that is one reason why the lamp must be taken care of properly.

One very important thing that all projector owners must keep in mind is that one should never touch the projector lamp. It can be harmful for the humans as well as for the lamps. The very high temperatures can nearly melt the finger and leave some oil particles on the surface of the lamp, which can damage the lamp.

Proper care must be taken when installing the lamp. One of the two screws of the lamp assembly will first be removed, the handle will be taken out and then the lamp assembly will be removed and replaced. It is always a good idea to read the manual before doing any such job.

The projectorâ€™s filters must be kept clean so that air can easily pass through, the temperatures do not rise very high, and the projector lamp can live longer. The cleaning of the lamps must be done in every few weeks according to the surroundings.

The filaments of the projector lamp are very delicate when they are hot. One should always keep the fan running for some time even when the power is switched off. It helps in cooling the lamp faster and improves its life.

Whenever the projector needs to be shifted from one place to another, it is better to let the filaments of the lamp cool down and then move it. Shifting a hot projector can prove to be quite hazardous for the humans as well as for the projector.When installing the projector at a point from where it will not be removed, one must take care that the vents of the fan are very clear and there are no obstructions of any kind in their way, which can otherwise cause extra heating of the filament of the projector lamp.

Some of the projectors have indicators attached with them that give out signals whenever the projector lamp needs to be replaced. It helps the owner to know when the lamp needs to be changed and can then do it accordingly.

Projector lamps are very important in the projectors and the better one takes care of them, the better they work and last for a longer period.
