Projector Installation DIY tips

Projector installation may sound very simple affair but it has always taken longer than the expected time. We always presume that projector installation is nothing more than the positioning a screen, placing a ceiling mounting and installing the projector. But the fact remains that installation is an expert's job. Simple it may appear but it is quite complicated and needs tuning, fine tuning and re-tuning many a time to get that perfect angle. The first thing which is required to be kept in mind for installation is seating arrangement. There will be some halls which can accommodate 500 persons while others may have capacities up to 1000 persons. The installation for home theaters and small halls are a different proposition altogether. Some tips which are required to be kept in mind for projector installation are summed up below:-

  • Seating arrangement: Halls can be in square or rectangular in shape, accordingly the seating plan will be different. Based on seating plan, the location of screen is required to be decided.
  • Location of projector: Once the seating arrangement has been finalized, the position of screen and projectors are decided. Mounting height is directly dependent upon the screen size and its elevation from the ground.
  • Mounting details: Once the location of screen and projector has been finalized, the next step will be deciding on the type of mountings and their positioning. Here the important point is to pay attention to anchoring and placement of fixtures.
  • Lighting of the hall. This is an important point which gets always neglected. To have clear vision on the screen, lighting of the hall has to be given a great amount of consideration.
  • Horizontal eye adjustment: In projector installation it may so happen that even after taking proper care if the projector is not in sync with the screen.  Then in that case lateral adjustment through the horizontal eyes aligns the projector images on the screen.
  • Cooling: Every projector which runs continuously is equipped with fans. When mounting the projector, proper care needs to be taken so that adequate space is left on all sides for proper ventilation.
  • Accessibility: Projector normally is placed at some height. While placing its accessibility and approachability should be kept in mind.
  • Moisture control: For indoor projections, humidity control is very essential. With increase in humidity levels, projector may get damaged and stop functioning.
  • Steps to increase the lens life for projector installation: In case projectors have been mounted properly then they can easily work at optimum contrast levels. Working at low contrast levels will certainly increase the lens life.

Projection systems have become essential parts of conferences, audio visual presentations, lectures, product launches etc. If proper care is taken in projector installation then system performance will not only improve but projector will also remain trouble free and more reliable.
